Resilience Tech North Founder Reva Seth speaking at Getting Big Things Done 2.0, an event organized by Canada 2020.
Last week, Resilience Tech North founder Reva Seth spoke with the Canada 2020 | Getting Big Things Done 2.0 conference. Below are Seth’s remarks.
Good morning.
My name is Reva Seth.
I’m a board member here at Canada 2020 and I'm the founder of Resilience Tech North.
Resilience Tech North is the first independent private sector platform dedicated to establishing Canada as the global hub for climate and resilience tech companies.
At Resilience Tech North we connect high impact us and global companies with Canadian testing, deployment and commercialization opportunities.
Today, I am excited to launch our first initiative here at Canada 2020: The AnchorPoint, Canada's first centralized hub for wildfire technologies.
Over the past couple of years we’ve seen millions of acres of Canada burned from wildfires.
The fires have caused billions in damages, alongside communities evacuated and lives disrupted.
As Canada prepares to make historic investments in our wildfire defense infrastructure- the challenge isn't just funding.
It’s being able to readily know the solutions that are available and how to effectively deploy them so communities get the protection they need and deserve faster.
To celebrate today's launch, I'm thrilled to introduce two companies who are both changing how we think about wildfire risk.
That’s what The AnchorPoint solves.
Our mission is to help political, industry and civic leaders easily understand and connect with the most innovative wildfire prediction, adaptation, mitigation and prevention technologies on the market.
First, we will hear from Joshua Jeffrey from Bellwether - the only wildfire prediction system that can forecast risk up to 5 years in advance.
Bellwether helps governments, insurers and communities plan smarter and invest strategically to prevent disasters before they happen.
Then, we will hear from Sonia Kastner the co-founder and ceo of Pano AI whose AI powered camera systems detect wildfires in minutes and not hours.
Pano’s technology is already deployed across Australia and North America.
These are precisely the kinds of breakthrough technologies Canadian communities need.
Today, we have the opportunity to hear directly from the people building these tech solutions and start to better understand how they can help make us all more secure and safer.
Now, let’s get started.
